Pain management is a procedure that provides treatment for those patients with chronic pain. Services are provided on Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the patient will need a physician referral.
Several pain management procedures are provided at Owatonna Clinic including:
- Spinal Injections (Epidural, Facet Joint and Nerve Root) - are done to relieve a variety of pain syndromes. Your physician will use information bout the location of your paint to determine the area to be injected. The injections are done under X-ray guidance in a procedure room.
- Trigger Point Injections - used to treat extremely painful areas of muscle. Normally, muscle contracts and relaxes with activity. A trigger point is a knot or tight band of muscle that fails to relax. The trigger point can trap or irritate surrounding nerves and may cause pain elsewhere in the body. Trigger points can be caused by strain or repetitive use injuries, stress and muscle tension, herniated discs, pinched nerves, fractures or surgical incision healing sites. Trigger points are generally in your upper and lower back muscles, but they may occur elsewhere.
